Points System
The “Points System” starts anew at the beginning of each season.
Points are awarded each Friday Club night for taking part in the swims and reducing times.
Age for points competition is as at Championship Day.
This is an incentive competition and the faster swimmers do not necessarily reduce their times the most.
Swimmers transferring from another club will only start in the point’s competition when their clearance is received back from Swimming WA.
The points competition will be conducted on each ordinary Friday night throughout the season and will conclude before the start of the Championship timed finals and heats.
Points Competition will conclude in September 2023. A swimmer must attend a minimum of 8 Club Nights by 16 February 2023 to be included in the points tally.
Points will be allocated according to the swimmers personal improvement in his/her best times as follows:
Equal Personal Best or outside by: 0.99% = 1 point
Better Personal Best by: 0.99% = 2 points
Better Personal Best by 1.99% = 3 points
Better Personal Best by: 2.99% = 4 points
Better Personal Best by: 3.99% = 5 points
Better Personal Best by: 4.99% = 6 points
Better Personal Best by: 5.99% or greater = 7 points
A Swimmer carrying the Club colours in an away championship on a Friday night will be awarded 3 points for that night.
A Trophy shall be awarded to the Senior (13 years and over) and Junior (12 years and under) boy and girl scoring the highest points.
No Points Swim
As one of the aims of our Club is for our swimmers to compete with other clubs, they need to be aware of and adhere to Swimming WA rules during Friday Club Nights swims and when swimming competitively with other clubs.
Should a swimmer be disqualified they will be told by the referee at the end of their swim what they have done wrong.
Their time slip may be collected from the timekeeper but no time will be entered into the computer.
The omission from the computer is to ensure a fair “points” competition as the computer automatically allocates points—a swimmer should not receive points for an incorrect stroke.
If your child receives a “no points swim” and does not understand why, or is upset, please talk to their coach or a committee member as soon as possible.
